MODEST CHARM OF A LOFT

Project owner: Lyudmila Tatarinova

Area: 160 m²
Place: Minsk
Year: 2012

The apparent simplicity of a loft – no walls, wide windows and elements of brutality – is deceptive. The designers managed to create a “loft” interior making an impression of expensive housing in the apartment.

TASK

To furnish a free-layout apartment on Svetlaya Str. as soon as possible. Customers wanted to get non-standard space filled with light and air.

SOLUTION

Modern environment in minimalist style. The apartment area is 160 m2, the ceiling height is over 4 m, which is an ideal size for a loft style. The height of the space is emphasized by a “title wall” clad in original Spanish bricks (they were sawn to reduce the thickness). Tweed fabric structure was taken as a cladding motif. The wall became a bright accent in the neutral range of colors with predominantly gray color.

Finishing materials were also chosen according to the aesthetics of a loft. The interior has typical metal surfaces, a dressing room, which resembles a shop elevator with stainless steel doors and a gas fireplace decorated with rusty metal. Another interesting design solution is printing on glass, which imitates old doors for sheds.

The project was designed and implemented in just 6 months. The result was appreciated both by the customers and experts: the work won in the nomination “Apartment Interior” in the national contest “Professional Interior 2013”.
