Aleksandr Trusov

Architect, interior designer and co-founder of the studio "Chetvertyi kvartal". A member of the Belarusian Union of Architects and the Belarusian Union of Designers.

He was born in 1963 in Minsk. After graduating from art school №26 under the direction of E. Sakovich he continued his studies at the Architectural Faculty of BPI. His thesis supervisor was a legendary professor A.A. Voinov.

Architectural education, according to Alexander, forms a global vision. It became, incidentally, very useful during the subsequent work in the project organization "Minskproekt" under the guidance of masters of Belarusian architecture L. Levin and Yu.Gradov.

In 1989, Alexander became the winner of the All-Union competition for young architects and got as a prize the practical training at Foster associates - London studio of the iconic architect Norman Foster. Having returned to Belarus, he worked in the creative workshop of Alexander Chadovich (chairman of the Belarusian Union of Architects) and in private studios, including his own "A.Trusov’s architectural studio".

His projects often take first prizes in professional competitions. Among them there are the Minsk competition "Private Interior" and Republican Architecture Biennale (in the nomination "Low-rise Houses" and "Interior"). The architect’s works are regularly published in specialized journals: in the Russian magazine "Luchshiye Interiery" (for 2002-2012 there are published more than 15 works) and in the Belarusian editions "Obstanovka", "MajorDom", "Dom", "Architectura i Stroitelstvo Belarusi". His articles and interviews are posted on websites onliner.by, hata.by, realt.by, pro-design.by, obstanovka.by and others.

Alexander’s style is recognizable: the architect prefers high-tech interiors, minimalism diluted with the painting and the richness of textures. He calls his professional feature as "aesthetic overkill".

Alexander believes that one of the important qualities of an architect is patience. Many specialists draw spectacular 3D projects, but only few of them have the real successful projects. A beautiful picture is just the top of the iceberg, and for the project implementation one needs strong nerves, patience, trust of a customer, finances and much more.

Alexander shares his extensive experience and knowledge, gained over 30 years of practice, with the younger generation of architects. For over eight years he has been teaching at the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) on the faculty "Design of Architectural Environment" and together with colleagues leads a practical course "Residential Building Project". The architect dreams that someday he will take a creative reprieve and write a book about the development of interior design in the post-Soviet Belarus.

Alexander’s passion is not only work. On holidays he is the same active: spearfishing, snowboarding, kayaking, skiing. Like many creative people, he has an unusual hobby. This is collecting rarities and bricks from different cities (Florence, Venice, Rome, etc.).

I like to experiment and do not like "to copy".
